Conclusion of the Blue Ridge Parkway...

The Appalachian mountains lack one thing-Internet service.

The motels say "free wifi" and

the computer says "connected", but doesn't work.

 Today we completed the 469 mile drive through the Blue Ridge Parkway.

 I recommend it to anyone who loves long, winding road trips.

 Our fourth day was mostly foggy and rainy,

 but beautiful.

There are 26 tunnels on the parkway.

 The pink and gold and green and red and brown

 was amazing.

Day One Of The Blue Ridge Parkway...

We started out at mile marker 0 and drove approximately 120 miles to the town of Roanoke, Virginia.  

  It started out foggy and rainy, but cleared up later in the day.

I think the rain added to the beauty.  

It made the colors shimmer and glisten. 

These moss-covered stairs lead up to

 this old railroad track. 

 We walked a couple of shorts trails and

 ate lunch beside the James River.

We picked up a Texas hiker and let him ride the last 60 miles with us.

I couldn't really capture the beauty in these photos

 it's something you have to experience for yourself.

In the morning we will leave Roanoke and drive the next 120 mile leg.

Driving The Blue Ridge Parkway...

I'm trying to get back into the swing of things. My last post was on August 10.

Hubby and I are on a road trip. We are in Waynesboro, Virginia. For the next three to four days we will be driving the Blue Ridge Parkway through Northern Virginia and into North Carolina. The fall colors are supposed to be spectacular. I'll try to post as I go, but for now here are a few pictures I captured off the internet.
