Jammin'...

Jam

Made from the sweet, juicy, delicious flesh of pounds and pounds of fuzzy, reddish/yellow Elberta peaches. Peaches picked by three laughing, bubbly kids on summer break. Picked from the carefully tended tree in their great-grandfather's back yard orchard.

The results...

mmmmmm!!!!

Hoping your weekend is a good one!!!

Good Bye Spa La La...

And a great spa it was.

While there I received a wonderful pedicure courtesy of Moon Daisy. I am generally conservative in everything I do, or is that old, anyway I normally paint my toenails red or pink, but I told Moon Daisy to do whatever she wanted to. I knew I wasn't going anywhere for a while, so I just relaxed and enjoyed the pedicure. I now have the greatest looking green and white toenails I've ever seen. Half white and half green, painted diagonally. She really did a good job. The problem? Tomorrow I leave on a trip with the church and I'm trying to decide which shoes to wear. Do I step out of my comfort zone and go with the open-toed, or do I wear the closed-toed?
Have a great rest of the week!!!

The Spa Treatment...

This is going to be one lazy week. I hope I don't gain 10 pounds.

I am being totally pampered and this includes back massages, someone to prepare the meals, snacks offered every few moments, a chair to prop my feet upon, a large comfy couch complete with blanket and pillow, hugs and snuggles, and sno-cones prepared especially for me.

Where am I?

At an exclusive spa, perhaps?

In Beverly Hills, maybe?

On a Caribbean cruise?

No, I'm staying with the grandkids while their parents are away.

Brown Hawk gives the best massages around and he cooks! He made chicken Taquito's for lunch and a cherry sno-cone for dessert.
He says he's making chicken nuggets and pizza rolls for supper
 while Moon Daisy makes brownies.
Crazy Hair can eat more snack food than ought to be allowed by law, but always offers to share.
Yes, I can tell this is going to be one lazy week.
And I can't wait.
Hope you have a great and lazy week too!!!

Gypsy Cat...

Hubby and I ate at Pulido's Mexican Restaurant tonight. The restaurant has three dumpsters about 50 feet across the parking lot. When you leave you drive to the dumpsters and turn right to get back on the Interstate. One night as we were leaving I noticed two or three cats at the dumpsters and upon closer inspection I realized it wasn't two or three, it was five or six and then seven or eight. Everywhere I looked there was another cat. As I drove down the lane I kept seeing another cat and then another cat and then another one and another one. There must have been 20 cats of all colors. I swore I was going to come back with a crate and take a few home.
Tonight as I arrived I saw a skinny, scraggly looking black and white cat meandering across the parking lot, but when we left I didn't see a single cat. It was kind of sad.
I am a cat lover and will take just about any cat someone wants to give me. We live in the middle of 30 acres and without cats we have mice and snakes. And I love it when I arrive home and they all come running.
Here is one I brought home a couple of weeks ago.
Her name is Gypsy.
Have a great weekend!!!
P.S. They are all outside cats.

Goodbye Andy Taylor...

Andy Griffith passed away today.

This past Sunday hubby and I watched the first two original episodes of The Andy Griffith Show on Netflix. We enjoyed them as much as we did the first time we saw them. It was interesting to see how the character of Andy Taylor changed from funny guy to straight guy.
Goodbye to an icon who brought us plenty of hours of good, clean entertainment.
Have a great 4th of July!!!

Wiri Wiri Peppers...

These tiny, round peppers carry a huge wallop. My youngest daughter's boyfriend's family is from Guyana. These are Guyanese peppers. The plant grows about three feet tall and  produces small ½" long by ½" wide berry shaped hot peppers. They are very hot and turn from green, to orange to red as they ripen. My daughter made salsa using my recipe, but instead of jalapeno peppers she used Wiri Wiri's. The salsa was very good.

She gave me some of the peppers and said his mother told her to put them in the sun and dry them in order to plant the seeds. I am going to try it and see if I have any luck. I looked them up on the Internet and was going to order some seeds, but they were on back order. I guess more people know about them than I realized. I have never heard of them.

The Internet said they are used for pepper sauce and to make pepper wine. Well, I perked up at this. It said people in Guyana pour Rum over the peppers and let it sit for three weeks to let the Rum absorb the pepper flavor. They pour a few drops in soups and other dishes to enhance the flavor. Sounds good to me. I'm going to give it a try.

 Have a great week!!!

It's A Boy...

Saturday was the big day. We gathered at my daughter's house. Her hubby grilled hamburgers and hotdogs. Afterwards we cut the cake.
Anticipation
It's a boy!!!
Even our son in Utah was able to participate.
It was blue inside, so if the good Lord's willing we are going to have our 5th grandson. Our only granddaughter just turned 13, so most of us were hoping for a girl, but we'll certainly take another precious little man.
Jesse Lawton is due November 16, 2012.
Have a great holiday week!!!
