Unexpected Events Make An Eventful Week...

I hope this week turns out to be a little less eventful than last week. As most of you know Hubby came home last week and brought Crazy Hair with him. We had a delightful weekend filled with homemade pizza, Root Beer floats, movies, snacks, reading, and a giant box that Crazy Hair wanted to spend the night in.

The big box is the reason for my story. The big box was delivered on Friday afternoon about 3:00. Inside the box was a very large, very heavy Bar-B-Que grill. It was supposed to be a Father's Day present for Hubby, but it took him until now to figure out exactly which grill he wanted. I finally convinced him he needed to figure it out and get it ordered because his birthday, anniversary and Christmas are all coming up in that order.

He arrived home Friday night and immediately began putting the grill together. By the time he completed it several hours later his back was hurting so bad he could barely walk. The rest of the weekend he took Hydrocodone and stayed in bed. He couldn't walk, sit or stand. By Monday it was obvious it wasn't getting better. I called the doctor and he ordered a Cortisone injection for Tuesday. This is not Hubby's "first rodeo". He has had two back surgeries, and previous injections. You would think he would learn, but do men ever learn? I kept telling him not to pick up those heavy pieces.

O.K. rest of story. I took him to Dallas Monday night, stayed in a motel,  and went to the doctor Tuesday morning where he received the injection.
Wednesday we stayed in Fort Worth and had supper with my dad at Cracker Barrel. I planned on leaving for home Thursday. Thursday morning Dad called. He thought he was having a heart attack. I took him to the ER where we spent 6 hours before they decided to admit him and another 6 hours before I left him there in good hands.

Friday morning I went back to the hospital until 1:00pm at which time I left for home leaving Dad in sister's capable hands. He is now home from the hospital and doing well. Hubby is going to try to go back to work in the morning. All is well. I just hope this week isn't as eventful as last week.

Have a great week!!

Happy Father's Day...

He's almost 85, lives alone, works his small garden and buys every visitor a meal.
When I thought of him today two songs came to my mind.

Daddy's Hands by Holly Dunn

I remember Daddy's hands folded silently in prayer and reaching out to hold me when I had a nightmare. You could read quite a story in the callouses and lines years of work and worry had left their mark behind. I remember Daddy's hands how they held my mama tight and patted my back for something done right. There are things I've forgotten that I loved about the man but I'll always remember the love in Daddy's hands. Daddy's hands were soft and kind when I was cryin'.  Daddy's hands were hard as steel when I'd done wrong. Daddy's hands weren't always gentle but I'd come to understand there was always love in Daddy's hands. I remember Daddy's hands working til they bled sacrificed unselfishly just to keep us all fed. If I could do things over I'd live my life again and never take for granted the love in Daddy's hands.

That Silver-Haired Daddy of Mine by Jim Reeves

In a vine-covered shack in the mountains
Bravely fighting the battle of Time
There's a dear one who's weathered life's sorrow
It's that silver haired Daddy of mine

If I could recall all the heartaches
Dear old Daddy, I've caused you to bear
If I could erase those lines from your face
And bring back the gold to your hair

If God would but grant me the power
Just to turn back the pages of Time
I'd give all I own if I could but atone
To that silver haired Daddy of mine.

I know it's too late, dear old Daddy
To repay for the heartaches and care
But dear Mother is waiting in Heaven
Just to comfort and solace you there

If I could recall all the heartaches
Dear old Daddy, I've caused you to bear
If I could erase those lines from your face
And bring back the gold to your hair

If God would but grant me the power
Just to turn back the pages of Time
I'd give all I own if I could but atone
To that silver haired Daddy of mine

Happy Father's Day!!!

Have a blessed day!!!
