Flowers for the Patient...

My husband began treatment today for his second tooth implant. The first one garnered him a huge bouquet of mixed flowers. This time it was a beautiful red vase full of equally beautiful red roses. I must say I have never received anything more than a phone call from a doctor, but it was nice and appreciated.

Have a great weekend!!!

Hiking in the Heat...

Today I officially broke my "no exercise" streak. I have been keeping two of my grandkids since November and that coupled with the intense heat wave we've been experiencing has pretty much kept me indoors.

Today I decided to saddle-up the stroller, drag out the leash, pack up the snacks and water (oh yes, the water) and head out on what we decided to call a "hike". I forgot the camera so used my phone.

Fuzzy ready for the hike.

We left the house and traveled north.

Giving Piper a drink.

About two blocks into it we decided north held no excitement for us, so we turned our stroller around  and headed south. I asked Tall Feathers where he wanted to hike to and he immediately said, "Wal-Mart".
I thought that sounded reasonable. I'm thinking AC and he's thinking toys. We hiked to Wal-Mart, stopped under every shade tree along the way, hid Piper in the compartment below the stroller, bought Beverly Hills Chihuahua, a toy hamster for Fuzzy, a toy motorcycle for Tall Feathers and hiked back home.

We had a great time, got plenty of exercise, and made it back in time for lunch.

Tall Feathers wants to do it again tomorrow.

Have a great day!!!!

The Tooth Fairy Came...

How many of us remember losing our first tooth? What an exciting time. After his mother pulled it for him he wanted her to pull "all of them."

Have a great week!!!

108 in the shade...

Yesterday I got in the car to go home and as I passed by a sno-cone stand I stopped and got an extra-large, sugarfree, coconut. As I drove off happily eating my sno-cone in the hot car that hadn't yet cooled down, I looked over at Inka and Piper.

I think they might have been trying to tell me something.

Have a great weekend!!!

Awesome Saturday...

Thought for today:
God does not give us overcoming life: He gives us life as we overcome.~~Oswald Chambers

Our annual shopping trip to Grapevine Mills Mall was awesome! Each year just before school starts we meet the kids at the mall in Grapevine. We shop, eat, and just hang out. Year before last my daughter announced she was expecting, so my granddaughter now says she likes our shopping trip because we find out "secrets".

New ball caps!!

Crazy Hair takes a ride on the mall merry-go-round.

We originally started meeting at the mall when we still had kids in school. We continued on while our youngest was in college. When she graduated I said that was it. My oldest didn't want it to end, so we still meet each year. The difference is Mom and Dad no longer pull the checkbook out for them. They are on their own. It seems to work and we all have a lot of fun.

There were 12 of us this year. Work clothes, school clothes, books, shoes, caps, and of course lots of odds and ends were purchased. One of my best finds was a purple patch-work shoulder bag. I am a sucker for bags. Then at the very end of the day we gathered in the Books-a-Million coffee shop to say our good byes and there it was, on a bargain table, so unexpected. My treasure of the day. A Tasha Tudor Cookbook. What a way to top off an already awesome day.

We didn't find out any "secrets" this year, but we had a lot of family fun and look forward to next year.

Have a great week!!!
