Happy Birthday Party...

Happy Birthday, Little Lawly!!!

This past week was our little Lawton's 3rd birthday. I think the last time I blogged about him he was a newborn.
His mom threw a great party. We had all the taco salad and tacos we could eat. Afterward, we had cookies and cake with little Lawly being the center of attention.
He loves Mickey Mouse, so of course, that was the theme of the party.
Blogger won't let me upload anymore pictures, so
Have a great rest of the week!!!

First Monday In April...

Here it is April already. Where is the year going? I just celebrated another birthday. They are officially running together. I don't really mind telling my age, but when my elderly cousin puts it on Facebook for the world to see, ouch, it sinks in. Doesn't he know the rule about not telling a women's age? At least it wasn't my weight, right? There's always a positive.

I saw this on Facebook. I love it, but I wonder if this poor man has thought about the clean up. He must need something to do. I wonder if his wife said, "Honey, go hang these eggs in that tree while I go shopping." Hmmmm, I may need to remember this when Hubby retires.
Have a great week!!!

Movie Review...

Lincoln

Lincoln is a 2012 American historical drama directed and produced by Steven Spielberg, starring Daniel Day-Lewis as United States President Abraham Lincoln and Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln. The film is based in part on Doris Kearns Goodwin's biography of Lincoln and covers the final four months of his life, focusing on Lincoln's efforts in January 1865 to have the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution pass the United States House of Representatives.~~Wikipedia

Review
Hubby and I went to see Lincoln last Saturday to celebrate his birthday. He loved it! It was approximately 2 1/2 hours long, but seemed less. It was well done, but what Steven Spielberg isn't? Daniel Day-Lewis was superb. The only problem I had was with the slant I felt Hollywood put on it. I was expecting Hollywood to put this slant on it and I wasn't surprised and still enjoyed the overall movie. I give it 4 stars for being a good historical drama. I would watch it again simply to see Daniel Day-Lewis' performance. If you get a chance I recommend it.

Have a great middle of the week!!!

70th Anniversary of Anne Franks Diary...

PHOTO: Anne Frank poses in 1941 in this photo made available by Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, Netherlands on June 11, 2009.
Seventy years ago today on June 12th, 1942, Anne made the first entry in her diary. On her 13th birthday she wrote, "I hope I will be able to confide everything to you, as I have never been able to confide in anyone, and I hope you will be a great source of comfort and support."
Anne died in a German concentration camp in 1945 at age 15.

If you have never read the book give it a try you won't be able to put it down.
Happy Birthday Anne!!!

Over-The-Hill...

Hubby and youngest daughter went with me to Canton, Texas for First Monday to celebrate my birthday. I love a good flea market. I rarely buy anything of value, but rather look for the odd little treasures that call my name. My best find of the day was a Frankoma butter dish.
As we walked around I spotted the bottom of this butter dish, but since the lady was asking $20.00 and I didn't have a top I left it. Later, I came across a top. The man was asking $5.00. On the slim chance that I might accidentally remember where I saw the bottom, and if not,
put it on my list of things to look for, I bought it. When I showed it to hubby he took me straight to the table that held the bottom. Amazing! The woman said she would take $10.00. I thought $15 total was a good deal.
And how about this Frankoma trivet to go with the butter dish.
And this thick, old restaurant cup to slurp coffee out of.
You can tell I like green. These four saucers called my name.
Considering the company I kept and the goodies I came home with I would say this was a delightful birthday weekend!!
Over-the-hill is not so bad after all.

Have a great weekend!!!

Happy Easter & Happy Birthday...

We had a successful egg hunt yesterday despite the 2.5 inches of rain we were blessed with. We huddled under our umbrellas and waited on the clouds to break.
It didn't happen,
so, the eggs were hid, and the hunters hunted,
and prizes were claimed under a covered bridge.

Afterwards, we celebrated Fuzzy's 2nd birthday and Tallfeather's 7th birthday with a family party at "Texas Roadhouse."
The birthday boys.
The presents.

Happy Birthday!!!
It's hard to believe my little "Fuzzy" is two.
Have a great week!!!

Crazy Hair Turns Seven...

Where does the time go? My sweet little "Crazy Hair" is seven today. That means I'm--never mind. "Crazy Hair" is a combination of his older sister and brother. He's calm, sweet and a little O.C.D. He loves his crazy hair and so do I.
His mother took him to a friend of hers to get a haircut last week and the friend cut his curls off. He didn't realize it until he looked in the mirror and then his mother said he had a "melt-down". He didn't want to go to school the next day and when she made him go anyway he came out wearing a hoodie. When she picked him up he was happy and said he had a good day. Typical "Crazy Hair."
Happy Birthday Sweetie Pie!!!

Happy Birthday...

Today my mother would have turned 79 years old. She was a rare combination of funny, generous, kind, and tender-hearted. She had a heart for those in need. She was part Cherokee Indian and loved to knit, crochet and sew.
She loved roses.

So many times I've missed you
so many times I've cried.
If love could have saved you
you never would have died.
Your precious heart stopped beating
your twinkling eyes closed.
But never a day goes by
that your not in my heart and soul.

Happy Birthday to Moon Daisy...

Today is my granddaughter's 12th birthday. She is a real sweetie. She loves music and would love to be a band teacher some day. She just won a trophy for the top student in the woodwind section. I am very proud of her for her sweetness and her accomplishments, but not so happy with her for growing up.

It seems like just yesterday we rushed to the hospital and there she was all little and wrinkled and white and fuzzy. The best little gift we could have ever received.

I keep telling her she is outgrowing me. She just smiles and says no, but the reality is she is turning into an amazing young lady who loves music, reading, school, family, and yes, boys. Happy Birthday Sweetie!!!

Happy Birthday to me...

I am back after a few days of being on the go. I have been celebrating my April 2nd birthday since April 1st and here it is April 5th. One of my best presents came from Hubby. Knowing how well I like to read he gave me a Kindle. It will never replace the feel, the smell, the essence of the "real thing", but I am loving it. It is going to be great as a traveling companion. Just think, thousands of books at the mere click of a button. I can handle that.
Kindle Wireless Reading Device, Wi-Fi, Graphite, 6" Display with New E Ink Pearl Technology

Then there's the cover. It gives it the actual feel of a book. I have even reached to turn the page. Mine is purple, of course.

M-Edge GO! Leather Kindle Jacket with Hinge (Fits 6" Display, 2nd Generation Kindle), Smooth Mocha Brown

At present I am reading a free download of "Little Women". Meg and Mr. Brooks are just beginning to realize that each other exists.

Another of my favorite presents came from my daughter's family. It is a darling tote bag with the name and representation of each grandchild.

Isn't this the cutest thang "evah"?

Hubby told me it was my weekend. I could pick anywhere and anything to do. I chose three things. First, on Friday I chose a trip to the baseball field to see my nine-year-old grandson, Brown Hawk play.  He did a fantastic job.
                                                                            Safe!!

Second, on Saturday, I chose a trip to Canton.  Canton is in East Texas and is billed as the "World's Largest Flea Market" and there is definitely more food and shopping than can be had in one day.

Next on the agenda was back to the baseball fields to see both grandsons play ball. This was a real treat as we had not seen the five-year-old play before. Both boys did well and I am not the least bit predudice.

I completed my birthday weekend with a movie at the Movie Tavern.  We saw Lincoln Lawyer with Matthew McConaughey.  It was entertaining and enjoyable.
I had one of the best birthdays ever. The best part was spending time with family.
