Chandor Garden's...

Moon Daisy earned two flex days from school and decided she wanted to spend them with MeMaw and Paw-Paw, so Friday she hitched a ride with her Paw-Paw and showed up on my door step. She hung out with us at the house over the weekend and then Monday we drove around the area looking for unique places to take pictures. I will post a few later in the week.

Today I took her to Weatherford, Texas to meet her mom. While there we took a walking tour of Chandor Gardens. Chandor Gardens is a series of "garden rooms" featuring English and Chinese motifs. Douglas Chandor, an artist who painted portraits of President Hoover, Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill, among others, created these gardens starting in 1936.

Upon Chandor's death in 1953 his wife, Ina, opened the gardens to the public until her death in 1978. The gardens were neglected for the next 16 years until 1994 when Melody and Chuck Bradford bought and restored the property. In 2002 the city of Weatherford bought the home and gardens and  once again opened them to the public.

We had a great time. The home and gardens are unique and interesting. I have only given you a small taste. I look forward to visiting again in the spring when the Wisteria petals will "drip like purple rain from everywhere" and all things beautiful will be in full-bloom. Imagine.
Have a blessed week!!!

I had to go out of town yesterday, so I took my little point-and-shoot hoping to capture some fall beauty.
Here it is: a plethera of color all bunched up in one spot. Thank you Lord for reminding us that beauty is everywhere if we just stop and look.

Have a great evening!!!

Shadows...

Today is the Weekend Shadow Blog Link Party over at Crafty Sue's.

This is a true story. I was sitting outside taking pictures of  Fuzzy on September 7th when I noticed he had discovered his shadow. He would look at it then move to another spot and look at it again. I took these pictures and that very night I saw that Crafty Sue was having a Shadow Photography challenge. What are the chances? What a coincidence.

Follow the link on over to Crafty Sue's for more Shadow pictures.

Have a nice day!!!

It's time once again for

the theme is:
 Dog Daze of Summer.
This is how my grandkids beat the "dog daze."

Fruits and Veggies...

We passed a roadside fruit and vegetable stand today and absolutely could not resist.

The cutest, friendliest little boy and girl were selling their produce in the brutal Texas heat.

We came straight home and made sandwiches with cantaloupe and tomatoes on the side.

Have a great day!!!

Rain, Rain...

Thank you Lord for the rain today...

There is nothing like the smell of rain on dry, parched land.

Staying dry.

Have a blessed day!!!

No words needed...

This is our great-nephew. I didn't take this picture his mother did, but every time I look at it I think of Wordless Wednesday. It is funny and sad at the same time.

I am leaving on a small trip and may not be able to take my computer, so I'll leave you with this picture.

Have a great and blessed weekend!!!

The Perfect Camera Bag...

Earlier this year I received a camera as a gift and since that time I have been shopping for the perfect camera bag. With the help of my son-in-law I found one and ordered it from Amazon. It has a place for camera, accessories and laptop. It is a Pelican bag and is perfect to ensure your camera and laptop are safe while traveling. I love it, however, it is a bit too large for everyday use.

Tonight as I was visiting different blogs I came across what looks and sounds like the perfect bag to carry on outings. I couldn't wait to pass this information on.

Here is the link: http://www.etsy.com/shop/PorteenGear

I haven't ordered one yet, but am thinking seriously about it. It appears to be roomy enough for a camera, lens, and pocketbook without being too bulky. There are several colors and patterns to choose from or you can customize it.
Here is one that caught my eye.
